No, Italy’s Lake Como didn’t dry up




Lake Como in northern Italy has disappeared after a “geological rupture”, a sensational report posted on TikTok claimed. This isn’t true. For one, the footage and photos in this report were all generated by artificial intelligence. Secondly, while the water levels in the lake have dropped, it’s because of drought – and satellite images show that Lake Como is far from empty.
