National Social Media Page Gives Shout Out to Local Restaurant Serving Area Community for Decades

The Small Town USA Facebook page, which has nearly half a million followers, recently featured a North Central West Virginia restaurant known by many.
Woody’s Restaurant, situated on 801 Morgantown Avenue, Fairmont, got a review from the page. And it drew plenty of comments.
The restaurant has been serving the community for more than 70 years. Here is what the Facebook page had to say about it.
“In Fairmont, West Virginia you can stop by Woody’s Restaurant for some of the state’s tastiest hot dogs and pepperoni rolls! This small local favorite on Morgantown Avenue keeps things simple, serving the kind of classic West Virginia comfort food that has kept people coming back for years. The hot dogs are loaded with homemade-style sauce that can be ordered mild, medium, or hot, then finished with onions and Woody’s signature sweet-and-tangy slaw. The pepperoni rolls are another must-try, packed with pepperoni and served Fairmont-style with cheese and sauce. Woody’s actually serves pepperoni buns from another longtime Fairmont favorite, Colasessano’s, and you can also order pork barbecue sandwiches if you want something different. Inside, the restaurant has a simple old-school feel, with local sports photos and memorabilia adding to the hometown atmosphere. Fairmont is the perfect place to eat a pepperoni roll, since the food was first created right here around 1927 by Italian immigrant baker Giuseppe “Joseph” Argiro. The easy-to-carry rolls quickly became popular with area coal miners who needed a filling meal they could take underground. Woody’s is fast, casual, affordable, and exactly the kind of longtime local stop that’s worth seeking out when you’re hungry in Fairmont.”
