Local Woman who Impacted Thousands as Harrison County Schools Worker, Nina Lucille, Ashcraft, Passes
Nina Lucille Ashcraft, 84, of Shinnston, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 15, 2026. She was born in Harrison County, June 25, 1942, a daughter of the late Earl Sheridan and Anna Mae Wable Stark. On July 26, 1963, she married Frederick Wayne Ashcraft who preceded her in death on August 25, 2001.
Lucie Holt and her husband Brad, Maisie Stewart and her companion Luke Riffle, Wayne Stewart, Anderson Stewart; two great grandchildren, Roman Holt and Shelley Holt; one brother, Donald Stark and his wife Brenda, Prospect Valley; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Nina was also preceded in death by five siblings, Shirley Stark, in infancy, Ray Stark, Earl Sheridan Stark, Jr. and his wife Vivian, Virginia Mae Skinner and her husband Bill, Mary Lou Layfield and her husband Clifford; her brother-in-law, Jack Ashcraft and his wife Dianne; and her sister-in-law, Diana Stark.
Nina was a 1961 graduate of Lumberport High School and attended West Virginia Business College. She spent her career as a school cook for the Harrison County Board of Education at the Big Elm Elementary School. She was also a cook at Lasting Impressions Child Development Center, as well as many other camps and events throughout the years. Nina was strong in her faith and attended the Bible Baptist Temple in Stonewood, Bible Baptist Fellowship in Gypsy, and the Warriors Chapel in Shinnston. She enjoyed her pets and attending her grandchildren’s events. Her family was her life and she dedicated her time to them and the things that they loved. She will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 3-8pm, Tuesday where funeral services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, August 19th with Pastor Charles Madaus officiating.
