Rohit Sharma Breaks Into Top-3, Virat Kohli Drops Down In ICC ODI Rankings After CT 2025

Rohit Sharma rose to third, while Virat Kohli dropped to fifth in the latest ICC men’s ODI rankings after the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma and senior batter Virat Kohli moved in opposite directions in the latest update of the ICC men’s ODI rankings after the 2025 Champions Trophy. Rohit has broken back into the top-three with 756 rating points and only his opening partner, Shubman Gill, and Pakistan’s Babar Azam are ahead of him.
The gap between Rohit and Babar is just 14 rating points, the same as between the top-two. Meanwhile, Kohli dropped one spot down and is now placed at number five with 736 points.
Rohit, Kohli and Gill all made significant contributions to India’s win in the Champions Trophy in the UAE. Kohli was India’s second-highest run-scorer with 218 runs in five matches at an average of 54.50, Gill scored an important 101 not-out in the team’s tournament opener against Bangladesh while Rohit was the top-scorer in the final against New Zealand, with his 76-run knock also winning him the Player of the Match award.
India’s best batter in the tournament, Shreyas Iyer, maintained his position at number eight while New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell and South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen jumped up a spot to number six and 13, respectively. The most prominent gain was for the Player of the Tournament, Rachin Ravindra, whose 263 in four matches helped him jump 14 spots to number 14 in the rankings.
Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja soar high
More Indians found success in the ICC men’s rankings for bowlers. Wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav rose three spots to break into number three after his impressive showing in the tournament, including two big wickets of Ravindra and Kane Williamson in the final. Joining him is Mitchell Santner, New Zealand’s best bowler at the event, who soared six places to alight at the second spot. Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana is still at the top.
Ravindra Jadeja, India’s all-time highest wicket-taking bowler in Champions Trophy, also took one wicket and hit the winning runs in the final. He is now placed 10th in the rankings, an improvement of three spots.
Black Caps’ Ravindra and Michael Bracewell also broke into the top-10 of the ICC men’s ODI rankings for all-rounders. Santner jumped up a spot to reach number four.
