Both the gun and bullets were “immediately confiscated,” the school district said.
Both students were arrested by Phoenix police and “are being booked into the juvenile court center on charges related to the possession of a firearm on a school campus.”
The ages of the students involved were not released. The school district said they will face disciplinary action.
Police said the gun was reported stolen out of Glendale.
This is the second such incident that Washington High School has had to face this year, one parent shared with 12News.
On Jan. 16, the school sent an email to parents stating that a gun had been found in a student’s backpack during a a search. That student was arrested and booked on charges related to possessing a firearm on campus, according to the email.
We’ve reached out to Phoenix police for more information about both incidents.
