Yuma officials investigate double shooting

Officials are investigating it as a homicide.

YUMA, Ariz. — Two people were found dead inside a Yuma home on Saturday, according to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office.

Both of the people had apparent gunshot wounds, officials said. The shooting happened at a home near Somerton Avenue and Wall Lane. Officials said they responded to the home just before 2:20 p.m. after a 911 call with a silent line.

The two victims were identified as Jose Martinez, 52, of Yuma, and Jose Guevara, 48, of Somerton, Arizona.

A third victim, whose identity wasn’t disclosed, was discovered at a nearby clinic. They are expected to recover.

Officials said they are investigating the shooting as a homicide but had no other information. There are no suspects in custody as of Monday.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Bureau has taken over the investigation.

Officials ask that anyone with information call the sheriff’s office at 928-783-4427 or 78-CRIME to remain anonymous. Tipsters can also visit their website to submit an anonymous tip.
