YSRCP leaders cheated farmers who gave up land for housing scheme, says Adoni MLA
BJP MLA from Adoni P. V. Parthasarathi has alleged grave financial fraud, criminal intimidation and conspiracy in the procurement of lands for Jagananna Housing Scheme in Mandigiri Gram Panchayat of Adoni mandal.
The MLA submitted a representation to the District Collector P. Ranjit Basha on Saturday (February 08) seeking full-scale legal inquiry, recovery of the misappropriated funds and prosecution of those responsible for the fraud. The BJP MLA alleged involvement of leaders of YSRC, which was in power when the scam took place.
According to Dr. Parthasarathi, YSRCP former MLA Y. Sai Prasad Reddy and others conspired to coerce landowners into executing fraudulent pre-agreements at ₹5 lakh per acre. “Farmers were misled, pressure brought upon them and deceived into believing that this was the final and legally binding compensation. They were unaware that the government actual compensation ranged between ₹ 13 lakh and ₹23 lakh per acre,” he alleged.
Dr. Parthasarathi said the financial scam raises serious concerns about the unchecked corruption in the land procurement process. “If such an elaborate fraud could occur under this scheme, it is imperative to question how many more such scams were orchestrated by these perpetrators, exploiting government welfare programs for personal gains. A comprehensive investigation must be conducted to uncover the extent of financial crimes committed by these individuals and ensure accountability at all levels,” he said.
The MLA said farmers who resisted have faced wrongful restraint, legal threats and fabricated cases. “Many were physically confronted, threatened with severe consequences, and coerced into returning a substantial portion of their compensation. Others faced ostracization and economic duress ensuring compliance through fear and intimidation,” he said.
Further, the farmers were compelled to open accounts which were controlled by the perpetrators, the MLA said. “Pre-signed cheques were forcibly obtained, facilitating unauthorised withdrawals. While farmers’ names were linked to these accounts, they had no control over the funds. The accused controlled full access to the money, which they then misappropriated,’‘ he alleged.
He wanted the Collector to initiate criminal action against the perpetrators and recover the amounts and render justice to the farmers.
