The Valley is a great place to spend spring training. There are 10 ballparks in the Cactus League, all within an hour’s drive of one another.
Whether you are visiting the Valley specifically for spring training, passing through or are a Valley resident, here’s everything you need to know to enjoy the Cactus League this season.
What is the Arizona Cactus League Association?
The association, founded in 1947, is the 10 ballparks across the Valley that host a total of 15 teams throughout the spring training season and beyond.
The association isn’t just a baseball lover’s dream, it’s a city’s dream, too: the 2023 Cactus League season generated approximately $710.2 million in economic impact for the state of Arizona, according to a study by Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business.

What’s new with the Cactus League?
The Cactus League has been slowly returning to pre-pandemic levels. In 2024, 1,630,436 people attended Cactus League games, a 4% increase from 2023.
Arizona sports
The city of Phoenix is home to four major professional sports league teams; The NFL’s Arizona Cardinals, NBA’s Phoenix Suns, WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury and MLB’s Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Cardinals have made State Farm Stadium in Glendale their home turf and the Footprint Center in downtown Phoenix is home to both the Suns and the Mercury. The Indoor Football League’s Arizona Rattlers play at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale.
Phoenix also has a soccer team with the USL’s Phoenix Rising FC, who play at Phoenix Rising FC Stadium in Phoenix.
The Valley hosts multiple major sporting events on a yearly basis, including college football’s Fiesta Bowl and Guaranteed Rate Bowl; the PGA Tour’s highest-attended event, the WM Phoenix Open; NASCAR events each spring and fall, including Championship Weekend in November; and Cactus League Spring Training for 15 Major League Baseball franchises.
