Who are the Black billionaires? Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Tiger Woods, Rihanna

There were 2,781 billionaires in the world last year, according to Forbes. Out of that number, only 21 are Black, notes the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The most recent list of Black billionaires includes LeBron James, Tiger Woods, and Rihanna. Also on the list, at number 15 is Michael Jordan. The NBA great has a sponsorship deals with Hanes, Gatorade and Upper Deck 19.

Twenty years before he retired in 2003, Jordan played for the Birmingham Barons. His stint on the team included helping the team acquire a team bus, called the Jordan Cruiser.

Though Jordan was making only $850 a month as a Birmingham Baron, he still had his NBA savings and his annual endorsement earnings on which to fall back.

Here’s what Birmingham Barons outfielder Scott Tedder had to say about playing with Jordan.

“It was a great experience,” Tedder said. “Obviously when he came in the clubhouse, everybody was in awe, but after the first week, week and a half, he was just another teammate. He kind of blended in, work really hard to try to get better in baseball and really fit in great with the clubhouse and the players and everything we did as a team.
