Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has said that like everyone admires Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi for their lifestyles, it is the same for star India batter Virat Kohli, whom he referred to as a ‘complete package’.

Kohli on Sunday, February 23 overcame poor form to score an unbeaten 100, helping India pull off a six-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan.

It was Kohli’s 51st ODI hundred and his 82nd across formats, as India qualified for the semifinals with a second victory in as many games.

“Why do people love Ronaldo? Why do they love Messi? If I talk about Ronaldo, especially, look at his lifestyle. Look at his charity work, his work ethic and his fitness. He is a complete package. Likewise, Virat Kohli is a complete package,” Amir was quoted as saying by Sports Tak.

“Why is he a role model for many, even in Pakistan? The country doesn’t matter. Whether he is from Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, or England role model can be from anywhere,” Amir added.

The former Pakistan cricketer further praised Kohli for his consistent work ethic, irrespective of form, even at 36.

“Virat Kohli is a player for whom age doesn’t matter. His work ethic doesn’t change depending on his form. He came 90 minutes before for training on the eve of the India vs Pakistan match,” Amir pointed out.

Kohli boasts of brilliant numbers in the ongoing marquee ICC event, with 651 runs at a stunning average of 93.

Kohli will next be in action when India take on New Zealand in their final group game on Sunday, March 2.

Meanwhile, the Indian cricket team had a hard-working training session in Dubai on Wednesday with Kohli spending a lot of time facing spinners even as bowling coach Morne Morkel rejoined the team after attending a personal emergency back home.

Kohli not only faced the likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja during the training session but spent over half an hour playing the net bowlers as well before the New Zealand game.

Star pacer Mohammed Shami was seen bowling at full tilt as well, swinging the ball both ways and rapping Kohli twice on his pads, while Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh looked determined to give their best during the session.
