UNIFIL: What is the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon?

With no sign of a let-up in the violence, UN peacekeepers in Lebanon warned against a “catastrophic” regional conflict. At least five UN peacekeepers have been wounded in recent days as Israeli forces battle Hezbollah. Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant told his US counterpart Lloyd Austin troops would “continue to take measures to avoid harm to UNIFIL troops and peacekeeping positions”, his ministry said Sunday (October 12).
