Trump jokes that he hopes wife Melania ‘said good things about me’ in her upcoming memoir

Former President Donald Trump joked during his Long Island rally Wednesday that he hoped his wife Melania wrote “good things” about him in her upcoming memoir.

The 78-year-old GOP presidential nominee drew cheers and laughter from the raucous Nassau Coliseum crowd when he promoted the former first lady’s book set to be released in October.

“Go out and get her book,” he exclaimed. “She just wrote a book. I hope she said good things about me.”

“Go out and buy it, it’s great. And if she says bad things about me I’ll call you all up and I’ll say don’t buy it, get rid of it,” Trump quipped as his supporters chuckled.

Melania Trump, 54, has ramped up publicity for the book, called “Melania,” in recent weeks.

Earlier on Wednesday, Melania defended her nude modeling work as she took to social media to address her former career. The mother of one asked in a voiceover, “Are we no longer able to appreciate the beauty of the human body.”

The former first lady said in a previous video post online she hopes to give readers “the truth,” claiming she’s been a victim of “misrepresentation” during her spouse’s time in the spotlight.

The book can be purchased for $40. A signed memoir costs $75.

The book release comes a month before Election Day when Trump looks to retake the White House against Vice President Kamala Harris.

During his speech on Long Island Wednesday, he said the recent attempts on his life had “hardened my resolve” and predicted he’d be the first Republican candidate for president to win New York in four decades.

“The reason I’m here,” Trump told the excited crowd, was because “we are going to win New York.”
