Train crashes into ‘disabled vehicle,’ blocking traffic in Sumter County



SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A train crash in Sumter County led to traffic closures on Thursday evening, according to the sheriff’s office.

In a release around 9:20 p.m., deputies said that the train collided with an “unoccupied disabled vehicle,” prompting closures at the following intersections:

  • East Noble Avenue and Main Street

  • Bushnell Plaza and Main Street

“The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and fire department personnel are on scene,” the release reads. “We will advise an update when one is available. Please use alternate routes at this time.”
