TITUSVILLE, Fla. – Police hope to identify a person who’s reportedly been seen taking photographs of Titusville High School.
The person entered the high school’s parking lot on foot around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday and was seen taking pictures of the ground and portions of the campus from outside the perimeter fence, the Titusville Police Department said on social media.
Police shared footage of the person and described them as lighter-skinned and possibly male, wearing a dark knee-length overcoat and appearing to walk with a hunched posture.
“Currently, investigators have no indication that the individual poses an immediate threat to students, staff, or the community,” the post states. “Detectives are seeking to identify and speak with this person to better understand this person’s intentions.”
In a statement, Titusville police Detective Sgt. Bryan Nelson said the department was working closely with Brevard Public Schools and the sheriff’s office to identify the person and ensure the safety of students and staff.
“At this stage, there is no evidence to suggest this person poses a danger, but we want to speak with them out of an abundance of caution and transparency,” he said.
Anyone with information about the identity or whereabouts of the person is asked to contact the police department by calling 321-264-7800, or to remain anonymous by contacting Crimeline at 1-800-423-8477.
The agency also asked that surrounding businesses and residents living near Titusville High School check their security cameras and contact police if they see the individual.
