TG records liquor sale worth ₹684 crore on December 30, 31


Telangana witnessed record liquor sale with alcohol worth ₹282 crore sold on December 31, according to the Excise and Prohibition Department.

The highest single-day sale was recorded on December 30 with ₹402 crore. As many as 3,82,265 cases of liquor and 3,96,114 cases of beer were sold on December 30 alone.

This apart, December 29 saw relatively lower sale at ₹51 crore. On December 28, the State registered ₹191 crore in sales, contributing to the overall surge.

In total, Telangana’s liquor sale in December totalled ₹3,615 crore. Officials attribute the rise to celebrations, social gatherings, and year-end festivities.

Liquor shops across urban and rural areas witnessed heavy footfall as people stocked up for New Year’s Eve parties. Authorities ensured strict enforcement to prevent illegal sale and incidents related to drunk driving.

A total of 5,378 cases were booked across the 29 police units in Telangana, surging by 19.9% from 4,486 booked in the past year.
