T.N. CM Stalin unveils foundation stone for non-leather footwear unit in Ranipet
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Monday (December 16, 2024) unveiled the foundation stone for a non-leather footwear and athletic footwear products unit in Ranipet district. The unit is being established by Taiwanese company Hong Fu Group with an investment of ₹1,500 crore.
The ‘Grand Atlanta – Hong Fu India Project’, being established on the SIPCOT campus at Panapakkam, is expected to provide employment for about 25,000 workers; about 85% of them are expected to be rural women.
The Hong Fu Industrial Group of Taiwan manufactures footwear and athletic products for many global brands, including Nike, Converse, Vans, and Puma, among others.
With a target to become 1 trillion USD economy by 2030, the Tamil Nadu government is on a mission to get industrial investments into the State in various emerging sectors. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin had earlier undertaken official visits to UAE, Japan, Singapore, Spain, and the US to attract investments.
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Ministers R. Gandhi and T.R.B. Rajaa, Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam, senior officials, representatives from Hong Fu — Chairman T.Y. Chang, CEO Jacky Chang, JV Partner and Director Aqeel Panaruna — were among those present on the occasion.
