Suspect talked about ‘officers being dead,’ police say
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Police in West Palm Beach said a Palm Beach Gardens man is accused of making written threats against multiple members of the department’s leadership.
During a Wednesday afternoon news conference, Deputy Chief Tony Shearer identified the suspect as Bryan Slater, 46, of Palm Beach Gardens.

The police department said Slater made online threats toward the following individuals:
- Chief of Police
- Deputy Chief
- Assistant Chief
- A Major
- Several lieutenants
- Officers
Police said Slater made the online threats on June 6, but they did not elaborate on what platform or if it was a social media post.
However, Shearer said the threats talked “about officers being dead.”

“We have zero tolerance for any threats made against our law enforcement personnel,” Shearer said. “Whether verbal, written or online, threats will be taken seriously and investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
Slater is facing second-degree felony charges of making written threats to kill or causing bodily injury.
