Snow, sleet, and rain all possible in Arkansas on Thursday | What to know

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A cold front and a weak upper-level storm system will bring a chance of wintry precipitation to parts of Arkansas on Thursday.  

With that information in mind, our team of meteorologists here at THV11 has issued a Weather Impact Alert for Thursday, December 4, 2025, into Thursday night.

Precipitation will begin entering western Arkansas early on Thursday morning with light sleet and or snow possible, especially in the higher terrain. The snow could be moderate at times and accumulate to a quick dusting to 1/2″ in the mountains. 

For Central Arkansas, you should expect the wintry mess to arrive through mid-morning as it builds east.

Precipitation will overspread the region with a combination of rain, sleet, and snow, which is possible by midday.  

Some locations could see a brief burst of moderate snow or heavy sleet. This could accumulate quickly because of the intensity, but temperatures will stay above freezing for most areas.

A cold rain is expected for southern Arkansas for the remainder of the afternoon. However, the storm system should exit Central Arkansas in time for the afternoon commute.

Light accumulations of dusting to 1/2″ snow are possible over the northern counties in the higher terrain.

Isolated areas in Central Arkansas may see a dusting of snow or minor sleet accumulation. 

Any sleet or snow that accumulates could cause potential travel hazards in some parts of the state, especially the typical trouble spots such as bridges and overpasses. 

Overall, this is a weak winter weather event, but it will get your attention. There is a little concern for black ice potential on Thursday night into Friday. We will keep you updated.
