Slotkin holds 3-point lead over Rogers in Michigan Senate race: Poll
Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) is leading her Republican rival, former Rep. Mike Rogers (Mich.), by three points in a new AARP survey released Tuesday.
Slotkin garnered 49 percent support among likely voters in the Wolverine State, while Rogers garnered 46 percent. Five percent said they supported a different person or were undecided.
Michigan’s Senate race is one of a handful of heated battles for upper chamber seats this year, as Democrats hope to maintain control amid a challenging map. According to an average of Michigan polls from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ, Slotkin is ahead of Rogers by 2.7 percent.
Slotkin and Rogers had their first debate last week, sparring on issues including foreign policy, manufacturing and immigration.
The AARP survey also found Vice President Harris and former President Trump tied at 46 percent support among Michigan likely voters. Michigan is a key state for either major party candidate to capture in November’s upcoming election, alongside its nearby neighbors Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
The AARP survey took place Oct. 2-8, featuring 1,382 likely voters, 600 of them being part of a statewide representative sample, as well as 470 likely voters “50 and older” and 312 Black likely voters in the same age range as oversamples.
The statewide representative sample had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4 percentage points at 95 percent confidence level.
