Sheriff’s Lieutenant, Task Force Member, Veteran of U.S. Navy, Richard Todd Deffet, Passes Away at 51

Todd served in the US Navy. Todd was a lieutenant for the Barbour County Sheriffs Department. He is a member of the FOP, Deputy Sheriff Association, Vice President of Barbour County Deputy Sheriff Association, Mountain Region Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, and the Crossroads United Methodist Church. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Todd is survived by his mother Phyllis Deffet, wife Sara Deffet, sons Samuel Todd Deffet, Brady and Chase Richardson; as well as several extended family members.
Todd was preceded in death by his father Richard Lynn Deffet.
Friends were received at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Sunday February 16, from 5-8pm and on Monday February 17, from 9 am- 12 pm.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 pm with Pastor Sam Haught and Pastor Johnny Williams.
Interment will follow in the Crossroads Cemetery at Tacy with military honors being accorded by the US Navy and American Legion Post #96.
