SDRF, Anti-Naxal Squad personnel retrieve bodies of two youths from river Sabari on Andhra-Odisha border


The Police, State Disaster Response Force and Anti-Naxal Squad personnel retrieved the bodies of two youths during the search operation in the river Sabari at Kalleru point in Chintoor Agency in Alluri Sitarama Raju district in the early hours of Tuesday (April 22).

The deceased have been identified as 25-year-old Sugreeva Srinu and 25-year-old Nagula Dileep who reportedly drowned in the Sileru river at its confluence point into river Sabari at Kalleru on April 20. The site where the duo drowned is on the border of Odisha’s Malkangiri district. The duo are native of Chintoor in Alluri Sitarama Raju district. 

According to Chintoor ASP office, the duo had drowned in the river while they along with a group friends had gone to enjoy a bath in the river. Mr. Srinu has reportedly drowned after he slipped from a rock in the river Sileru. Mr. Dileep who attempted to rescue Mr. Srinu also drowned, the Chintoor police said. The bodies have been sent to Chintoor government hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered and the investigation is on.
