Rashida Tlaib uses Thanksgiving message to poke at Israel as she ‘mourns’ Indigenous ‘killed by European settlers’
Anti-Israel Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) shared a Thanksgiving message on Instagram Thursday in support of Palestinians who “fight for freedom on their own land.”
“This Thanksgiving, we mourn the Indigenous people killed by European settlers and the United States in order to steal their land,” Tlaib’s post read.
“From here to Palestine, we stand in solidarity with all Indigenous people as they fight for freedom on their own land,” it concluded.
The message was a repost from Tlaib, 48, that originally appeared on the Institute for Middle East Understanding’s (IMEU) Instagram account.
Liora Rez, the executive director of the nonprofit StopAntisemitism group, told The Post last year that IMEU is “one of the top propagators of false anti-Israel rhetoric on social media.”
Tlaib hosted an event at the US Capitol Building last year, which was backed by IMEU, that decried the founding of Israel as a “catastrophe.”
The Palestinian American congresswoman has been a vocal critic of Israel’s war effort against Hamas after the terror group’s Oct. 7, 2023, attack on the Jewish state.
The House of Representatives censured Tlaib last November after she defended Hamas’ massacre, describing the terror group’s brutality as “resistance” to Israel.
The censure resolution also noted Tlaib’s use of the antisemitic slogan, “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”
Last month, days after the first anniversary of the attack, the Michigan Democrat called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a “genocidal maniac,” accusing him of “burning Palestinians alive, bombing hospitals, starving people, and killing aid workers.”
Tlaib attended the 74-year-old prime minister’s address to Congress over the summer but held signs during his speech accusing Netanyahu of being “guilty of genocide” and a “war criminal.”
The congresswoman called it “disgusting” that Netanyahu received a standing ovation from lawmakers after his speech.
Tlaib has also accused President Biden of supporting “genocide” in Gaza and refused to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
