Rains lash parts of Hyderabad; thunderstorm alert in 28 Telangana districts on May 13

The India Meteorological Department has issued a thunderstorm alert for 28 districts across Telangana on Tuesday.

A sudden spell of rain brought much-needed relief to parts of Hyderabad on Monday evening, offering a break from the intense heat that had gripped the city over the past few days. The showers, however, caught many commuters off guard as they made their way home from work.
According to data from Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), as of 9 p.m, Mossapet recorded a rainfall of 30 mm followed by 17.8 mm in Hydernagar, 17 mm in Kukatpally, 16.3 mm in Balanagar, 14 mm in Shamshiguda, 13.3 mm in Yousufguda, 12.8 mm in Gajularamaram and 11.8 mm in Borabanda.
Meanwhile the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm alert for 28 districts across Telangana on Tuesday. The forecast indicates the likelihood of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds at isolated locations.
According to the IMD bulletin, the affected districts include Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal.
For Hyderabad and surrounding areas, the IMD has forecast a generally cloudy sky over the next 48 hours. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds are likely in some parts of the city. Hazy conditions are expected during the morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are predicted to be around 36°C and 27°C, respectively.
