Press freedom under threat: Journalists in Italy face intimidation from mafias




Italy is the country with the highest number of journalists facing deadly threats in Europe, with some twenty journalists living under 24-hour police protection. Since 1960, 30 Italian journalists have been killed while investigating criminal activities of notorious mafias such as the Camorra, Cosa Nostra, or the ‘Ndrangheta.
