An MP-MLA Court in Lucknow on Thursday issued a non-bailable warrant against Rashtriya Shoshit Samaaj Party president Swami Prasad Maurya and his Lok Sabha member daughter Sanghamitra Maurya for not honouring court summons in connection to an assault case related to marriage dispute.

The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ambhesh Kumar Srivastava issued the warrant directing the Lucknow police to take legal measures.

The matter dates back to 2019 with one Deepak Kumar Swarnakar a resident of Lucknow, alleging in the complaint filed in the court, that he was living in a relationship with Sanghamitra Maurya since the year 2016. On January 3, 2019, he got married to the Lok Sabha member at her house with Ms. Maurya and his father Swami Prasad Maurya informing that the MP had been divorced before marriage, whereas she had been divorced in the year 2021.

The plaintiff alleged that in the year 2021 when he asked the MP to marry her legally, Swami Prasad Maurya and Ms. Maurya attacked the house with the intention of killing her. It has also been alleged that an attack was carried out in a hotel in Kushinagar on 10 and 11 November 2021 apart from another deadly attack carried out on the plaintiff near Polytechnic and Ambedkar University in Lucknow in 2021.
