National Retailer with City and Multiple Sites Across Harrison County Says Nearly 100 Locations Closing
According to USA Today, another national retailer will be closing stores in 2025.

Dollar General is located in Bridgeport, has multiple Clarksburg locations and others throughout Harrison County. The list of stores closing has not been released.
“As we look to build on the substantial progress we made on our Back to Basics work in fiscal 2024, we believe this review was appropriate to further strengthen the foundation of our business,” said Todd Vasos, Dollar General’s chief executive officer, in the earnings report.
“While the number of closings represents less than one percent of our overall store base, we believe this decision better positions us to serve our customers and communities,” Vasos said in the report.
Dollar General said it initiated a “store portfolio optimization review” during the fourth quarter of 2024, where it identified stores for closure or re-bannering based on “an evaluation of individual store performance, expected future performance, and operating conditions, among other factors.”
