MP, Collector inspect alternative commuting routes as work on Mahanadu-Nidamanuru flyover is set to begin
As the works on construction of the metro corridor from Gannavaram and also the Mahanadu-Nidamanuru flyover are set to begin soon, traffic congestions in the city are likely to increase, and, therefore, officials are looking at making alternative routes available to people at the earliest, said Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni).
The MP, along with Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rammohan and NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha, on Monday inspected Bellamvaari Veedhi, Mahanadu Road, Sakthi Kalyana Mandapam Road in Vijayawada, the alternative route to Gannavaram airport from the Ramavarappadu Ring Road and also link roads.
Later, speaking to the mediapersons, Mr. Sivanath said the State government had ambitious plans for Vijayawada to meet the growing needs of the city. “Since the government plans to take up development works in the city, we are making arrangements beforehand to ensure that the people are not put at inconvenience due to construction work on infrastructure and roads,” the MP said, adding that once work on the flyover and on the first phase of the metro corridor was finished, the city would see a lot of development.
Mr. Lakshmisha said the authorities were focussing on making the roads pothole-free and making all amenities available to the public. Development of the city roads was important since they lead to the capital, Amaravati, he added.
Swachh Andhra Corporation Chairman K. Pattabhiram, Sub Collector K. Chaitanya and others joined them in the inspection.
