Man arrested in shooting death of mother’s boyfriend in Mobile County, sheriff says
A man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of his mother’s boyfriend in Mobile County, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies got a call about 4:30 p.m. Friday that someone had been shot in the 2000 block of Whip Poor Will Court South in Semmes, the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
The caller, Michael Blake Allen, 32, identified himself as the shooter, according to the sheriff’s office.
Officials said Dennis Walker Owens died at the scene.
Allen told detectives that his mother and Owens had separated after being engaged and that Owens was in the process of moving out, according to the sheriff’s office. Allen said that while Owens was visiting the home to retrieve his belongings, he began yelling at Allen and charging him. Allen said he had warned Owens to stop and then shot him, according to the sheriff’s office.
After being taken into custody and interviewed, Allen was charged with murder. He was booked into Mobile County Metro Jail Friday evening and has a bond hearing set for Monday, according to jail records.
