Long-Time Harrison County Fire Chief Facing Cancer and Family Hopeful Community Can Assist in Battle

A Harrison County first responder who had served for nearly four decades as a volunteer is facing a serious health battle and the family is hoping the community can assist.

According to a GoFundMe page, Brenda Fragmin is battling Stage 3A squamous cell lung cancer. The process of treating the disease involves chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery to remove half of Fragmin’s right lung along with more than half of the rib cage. A family member stated in the post that cancer grew into the right rib area.

Fragmin has served the Summit Park Fire Department for 38 years. During that time, she has been the department’s chief for 13 years.
