Long-time Farmington Head Coach hired by Arkansas women’s basketball

After 16 seasons with Farmington Cardinals girls basketball, Head Coach Brad Johnson accepts a position with the Arkansas women’s basketball team

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — After 16 seasons and four state titles, it would take a dream job to pull head coach Brad Johnson away from the Farmington Cardinal girl’s basketball program.

On Tuesday, it was officially announced that Johnson would be joining new head coach Kelsi Musick’s staff as an assistant coach for the Arkansas women’s basketball program.

It’s been a lifelong dream for Johnson to coach at the university. A dream he fulfilled by putting together years of hard work and success.

Johnson took over as the Farmington Cardinals girl’s basketball head coach in 2009 and immediately went to work turning them into one of the premier programs in the state.

In his time there he amassed 403 wins with a 79% winning percentage and eight conference titles. However, his success wasn’t limited to the conference. The Cards also made an appearance in the state quarterfinals 12 times, the semi-finals 10 times, the state championship game seven times and they ended the season as champions four times, including the last three seasons.

A dynasty type run that certainly has Johnson in consideration for the Hall of Fame and one that has endeared him to a town and community that he calls home.

Luckily, he won’t be far away as he looks to continue that success at the collegiate level with the Razorbacks in a conference he dubbed “the best in the country.”

His new duties as an assistant will include scouting as well as on the court work.

No schedule has been released for the women’s basketball team as of the writing of this article.
