Local Preacher, Worker in Family Business, Veteran, Frenchie Lynn Swiger, Passes Away at the Age of 75

He is survived by his wife, and five children, Alexander Scott Swiger (wife Brenda), of Morgantown, April Dawn (Swiger) Zorick (husband Michael), of Clarksburg, Frenchie Lynn Swiger, Jr., of Clarksburg, Samantha Ann (Swiger) Cumberledge (husband Richard), of Clarksburg, and Jonathan Levi Swiger of Clarksburg, WV; former daughter in law, Christina Frazier; grandchildren, Isabella Rose Cumberledge, Tristan Lee Cumberledge, Phillip Michael Zorick, Leah Marie Zorick, Andrew Vincent Zorick, Isaiah Levi Swiger, Lacey Poling (husband Roy) and Trey Swiger; great-grandchildren, Austin Poling, Levi Poling, Braden Poling, and Madilyn Poling; brothers Mike Swiger (wife Sandra), Danny Swiger (wife Sue Ann), Fay Swiger (wife Nancy), Rex Swiger (wife Gina); sisters Kathy Richison (late husband Fred), Connie Swiger , Minnie Costello (husband Guy), Robin Gonzalez (husband Rick), Debbie Donini (husband Bill); and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Frenchie was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard “Dick” Swiger, Gary “Gub” Swiger, Gail Swiger, Gene Swiger, Sr, Jack Swiger, Denny Swiger, Joe Swiger, and George Swiger; his sisters, Anna Lee Pumphrey Hickman, Lucinda “Cindi” Swiger, Thelma Pratt, and Charlene Stadine; infant brother Lowell Swiger; infant sister JoAnn Swiger.
Frenchie attended Roosevelt Wilson High School and loved playing basketball. Frenchie was a welder at his father’s family welding business, A.L. Swiger and Sons Welding of Clarksburg. He was an avid gardener, loved to watch his flowers and garden grow each year. He also loved to feed the birds and enjoyed watching them. He was a great family man and loved spending time with his family and friends, making all laugh with his zealous personality, always joking, and happy. Frenchie was a preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ at Clarksburg Freewill Baptist Church and Family of God Freewill Baptist Church of Clarksburg. He preached the message of salvation and he wanted all to be Saved. He was a Veteran and very proud to serve his country.
Family and friends may call at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Clarksburg, WV on Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 5-7PM and on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 12:00 Noon with Pastors Rex Swiger and Lenny Madia officiating. Interment will follow at Stonewall Cemetery in Stonewood where full military honors will be accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard and the US Army Honor Guard.
