Lil’ Farmer Days Continues Today at Meadowbrook Stables

When she opened Meadowbrook Stables in August of 2024, Kasey Butcher said she would be hosting special events to introduce locals to horses and farm life.

After a long winter – during which time she boarded horses and provided riding lessons – she is hosting a springtime event that she is excited about.

Beginning yesterday, “Lil’ Farmer Spring Days” continues 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. today at Meadowbrook Stables.

Baby farm animals – including calves, goats, ponies, chicks, bunnies and more – will be on site for up-close-and-personal visiting.

“Since opening the stables, I’ve become part of a network of area farms,” Butcher said. “Some of them are providing baby farm animals. I have also reached out to area humane societies to bring puppies and kittens.”

There are kids’ activities, vendors, and a photographer to capture the action and offer photo shoots.

Butcher said she was inspired to host the event when she visited Tractor Supply while they were hosting baby Highland Cattle for customers to pet and visit with. Watching children interact with them, she knew she wanted to do something similar.

“Introducing kids to and educating them on farm life is something important to me,” she said. “I’ve always been active in 4-H and FFA and I want to help continue that interest.”

Butcher is a former employee of Cabellas, where she did marketing and public relations work. Catering to youth was always an important part of the retailer’s mission and that experience has further inspired her.

The local FFA chapter is also involved and Butcher is donating a percentage of proceeds to the chapter to assist in its projects.

It is just $5 per person to enter “Lil’ Farmer Spring Days.”

Meadowbrook Stables is located at 3877 Meadowbrook Road, three miles past Meadowbrook Mall and just across the road from Fed Ex.
