Legendary rock band to launch its own coffee brand

A legendary hard-rock group is launching its own coffee brand – at one of America’s biggest motorcycle rallies, naturally.

Motörhead, a band that will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year – albeit without its iconic founding frontman and bassist, the late Lemmy Kilmister – has announced that it will launch its “Speedfreak” coffee at Daytona Bike Week 2025, being held Feb. 28-March 9 in Florida.

Promotional materials describe the blend as “the loudest, fastest, and heaviest coffee you’ll ever ingest,” which sounds about right for a band whose signature songs include “Ace of Spades,” “Overkill,” “Deaf Forever” and “(We Are) The Road Crew.” The coffee is further described as “a bold-bodied paint-peeling, face-ripper containing notes of Dark Chocolate, Caramel, and Cocoa primed to fuel your day (truth be told, it’s also a little nutty with a ‘fruit kick’ to boot!).”

Motörhead was founded in mid-1975 as a hard-rocking offshoot of Hawkwind, after Kilmister’s fondness for amphetamines led to his firing from that group. Over the course of its career the group was often cited as an influence on the evolution of heavy metal.

Kilmister died in 2015. Planned celebrations for the band’s 50th anniversary include the unveiling of a statue of him in his British hometown, Stoke-On-Trent.

Motörhead’s Speedfreak coffee can be preordered through Concept Cafes Coffee. It will be showcased at several pop-up events during Daytona Bike Week.
