Karl Rove: Harris ‘flatlining’ in polls while Trump rises
Republican strategist Karl Rove said Vice President Harris is “flatlining” in the polls while her Republican competitor, former President Trump, is rising.
“What we’ve seen is Harris sort of flatlining and mostly declining, and Donald Trump modestly rising. And as a result, we’re seeing a 50-50 election, coin toss,” Rove, who is a Fox News contributor, said on the network on Monday.
Harris was riding high on momentum just weeks ago.
After receiving President Biden’s endorsement when he left the presidential race and becoming the Democrats’ nominee at the party’s convention, she gained ground quickly over Trump nationally and in several swing states.
Recent polls suggest that energy for Harris has leveled off, with the former president making a come back in the final two weeks. Experts say the race is going to be as close as it ever has been before.
Rove pointed to the differing polls and predictions, with some who say Harris is going to win and others that say Trump will earn his second term.
“If you take a look at RealClearPolitics, they see Donald Trump in the lead in seven states, enough to give him 300, over 300 electoral votes. But if you look at 538.com and the Silver Bulletin, two other aggregators of the recent polls, they show her leading in four states, him in three, with her at 276 and him at 262, Rove said.
“There literally is not a single state in those latter two aggregates in which anybody is ahead by 2 percent or more,” he continued.
Rove argued that with 15 days until Election Day, it’s going to be a “nailbiter” right until the end.
According to The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s polling index, Harris has a 1.3 percentage point lead over Trump.
