Issues flagged in 12.80 lakh petitions received from the public during camps organised under the ‘Makkaludan Mudhalvar’ initiative have been resolved, Minister for Revenue K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran said on Monday (January 20, 2025). The initiative has received the support of the people, he said.

The ‘Makkaludan Mudhalvar’ initiative has been implemented in 12,525 village panchayats through 2,344 camps so far, he said in a statement. The initiative was launched in urban areas, where 9.05 lakh petitions were received, and it was eventually expanded to cover rural areas.

Launched on December 18, 2023, by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, the ‘Makkaludan Mudhalvar’ initiative aims to enhance the services rendered by government officials to the general public. It aims to provide these services to citizens within 30 days of their application.

The services of 15 government departments that are accessed more by people in rural areas have been identified for the initiative, with an objective to make government services readily available to all citizens.
