Hot Springs superintendent placed on administrative leave after husband’s arrest

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — The Hot Springs School District called a special second meeting on Friday where they placed superintendent Stephanie Nehus on administrative leave.

This comes following an outcry from parents who called for the resignation, termination, or removal of Nehus after her husband Zachary Nehus was arrested earlier this week on a probation violation.

Her husband was previously convicted in 2016 on counts of child sexual abuse materials.

In a meeting last night, the school board had previously shared their support for the superintendent prior to placing her on administrative leave Friday.

Becky Rosberg has been named interim superintendent until the end of the school year and Dr. Mike Hernandez will take over until June of 2026.

There’s currently no definitive timetable on how long Stephanie Nehus will be on leave from the district. She has worked for the district for over 16 years.

We will update this article as more information becomes available.
