The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has decided to go ahead and conduct the Group-II Mains written examination as per schedule on Sunday (February 23, 2025).

The General Administration Department (GAD) wrote to the APPSC on Friday (February 21) night requesting it to reschedule the examinations to another date.

In its reply to the government, the Commission pointed out that the Group-II Mains examination had already been postponed once.

Moreover, APPSC said, since all the candidates taking the examination were graduates, postponement at this stage would result in violation of the Model Code of Conduct in force for the forthcoming elections to the MLC seats.

“APPSC is also bound by this limitation,” the Commission stated in its reply.

The Commission was also of the view that postponement of the examination a day before the scheduled date would affect the physical and mental wellbeing of the 84,921 (92.06%) of the genuine candidates who had downloaded their hall-tickets and were ready to write the examination.

It pointed out that the High Court would also be looking into the whole process of the selection to ensure that the interests of the genuine aspirants were not affected.

“Since the High Court, after an in-depth consideration, has refused to stay the examination, postponement at this juncture will not be in the larger interest of the vast majority of genuine candidates, who have been working hard to prepare for the examination.”A.R. Anuradha APPSC chairperson

“Since the High Court, after an in-depth consideration, has refused to stay the examination, postponement at this juncture will not be in the larger interest of the vast majority of genuine candidates, who have been working hard to prepare for the examination,” APPSC chairperson A.R. Anuradha told The Hindu on Saturday night.

The APPSC statement has put a cap on the wild speculation over the possible postponement of the examination.
