Garbage truck from Trump's Green Bay stunt to join inaugural parade
President-elect Trump’s inaugural parade is set to feature a garbage truck from an earlier stunt in Green Bay, Wis., a spokesperson with the president-elect’s inaugural committee confirmed to The Hill on Monday.
While in Wisconsin in late October, the president-elect entered a garbage truck themed to his campaign, trying to draw attention to comments from President Biden in which he seemingly called Trump supporters “garbage.”
“How do you like my garbage truck? This truck is in honor of Kamala and Joe Biden,” Trump said at the time from the truck’s passenger seat, which featured a Trump campaign sticker and flag.
Biden’s seeming comparison of supporters of the president-elect to garbage earlier that week drew heavy criticism from the right only a week before the election, in which Vice President Harris lost against Trump. Harris later distanced herself from Biden’s comments, saying she is “strongly” against “any criticism of people based on who they vote for.”
“I believe that the work I do is about representing all the people, whether they support me or not,” Harris said at the time. “And as president of the United States, I will be a president for all Americans whether you vote for me or not.”
Late last month, Biden said he would attend Trump’s upcoming inauguration on Jan. 20.
“Of course I am. The only president I avoided the inauguration of is the guy about to be inaugurated,” Biden said when asked about attending the event.
The Hill has reached out to the White House, Harris’s office and the company reportedly behind the garbage truck, Loadmaster, for comment.
