Former Pakistan pacer Sikandar Bakht has said that Mohammad Rizwan should resign as Pakistan skipper after the Champions Trophy debacle, adding that he is unable to understand a single word of what Rizwan speaks.

Pakistan are no more in contention for the semifinals of the Champions Trophy after losing two of their group-stage games against New Zealand and arch-rivals India.

Rizwan had a huge task at hand to lead Pakistan after Babar Azam relinquished captaincy and while his record in bilaterals isn’t all bad, the Champions Trophy debacle has come as a major blow.

“Firstly, Mohammad Rizwan should resign as the captain. Whenever he speaks, I am not able to understand what he says. A person who cannot speak or express himself, what sort of a captain would he be,” Bakht asked while speaking to Geo News.

“We have seen his captaincy on the field. He is a bad choice to be the captain. I said the same about Babar Azam as well,” Bakht said.

Rizwan has led Pakistan in 14 games till now, recording eight victories and six losses. He is also the skipper of the Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League and guided the franchise to the title four years back.

“We have to make changes. End their central contracts. Don’t give them central contracts till the team starts performing. There should be some performance. In a corporate setup, you are given a task. If you don’t do it, you are asked to pack up and leave,” Bakht said.

Pakistan will have an opportunity to end their Champions Trophy campaign on a high when they face Bangladesh in their final league stage game on February 27 in Rawalpindi.

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi is yet to comment on the crushing six-wicket defeat handed to Rizwan’s men which has ended their hopes of playing in the tournament’s knockouts.

But every former Pakistan player criticised the side’s approach, attitude and planning with former pacer Wasim Akram calling for a change of the white-ball team before the T20 World Cup next year.

Former pacer Shoaib Akhtar, one of the fastest bowlers in the history of the game, even went to the extent of calling Babar a fraud.
