Former Alabama prep star earns NFL weekly award

Cincinnati Bengals kicker Evan McPherson is the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 13 of the NFL season after a prolific performance on Thanksgiving.

In the Bengals’ 32-14 victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night, the Fort Payne High School alumnus made six field goals and two extra points. His 20 points and six field goals are the most by a kicker in a game this season.

McPherson became the 45th player in NFL history to make at least six field goals in the same game. McPherson connected on three-point kicks of 31, 42, 24, 33, 52 and 41 yards against Baltimore.

In his fifth NFL season, McPherson won the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week Award for the fourth time. He also earned the award for Week 1 and Week 11 of the 2021 season and Week 4 of the 2022 season.
