Elderly couple killed in road accident in Vizianagaram district

An elderly couple were killed in a road accident at Polipalli near Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district on Thursday evening. Meanwhile, two other family members sustained serious injuries. According to the police, the family from Tamil Nadu were on their way back home after visiting Srimukhalingam temple in Srikakulam district when their car met with an accident.

The couple’s son, who was driving the car, lost control over the vehicle while trying to overtake a lorry leading to the unfortunate incident near Polipalli village. He and his wife sustained injuries, and were admitted at Bhogapuram hospital for treatment. Vizianagaram Superintendent of Police (SP) Vakul Jindal directed the Bhogapuram Circle Inspector (CI) Prabhakara Rao to inform family members of the victims about the incident and take steps to shift the bodies after completion of post-mortem.
