Driver Dead after Vehicle Slides off Road Due to Slick Conditions and Ends up Landing on its Top in Stream

On Feb. 17, Randolph County Deputies were dispatched to a single-vehicle accident on the East Dailey Rad that was reported to be upsdie down in water.


 


Upon arrival, officers observed a sedan on its top fully submerged in a small stream. It was determined that the driver of the vehicle, who was later identified as Austin J. Lawrence, lost control of the vehicle and slid off the right side of the roadway due to extremely slick conditions. 


 


Once the vehicle left the roadway, it rolled onto its top and landed in the stream. Aftter the vehicle was removed from the water it was discovered that the driver was still inside the vehicle and had died as a result of the accident.


 


Randolph County EMS, Tygart Valley Fire Department, and the Elkins Fire Department assisted with the accident.
