DMK ‘murdering democracy’ by not telecasting issues raised by Opposition in Assembly: Palaniswami

The ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu is “murdering democracy” by not telecasting the people-centric issues raised by the Opposition parties in the State Legislative Assembly, alleged Leader of the Opposition and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Thursday (January 9, 2025).

In a social media post, Mr. Palaniswami asked: “Is the Legislative Assembly only about the ruling party and the Speaker? The cameras have not turned towards the Opposition benches. Why is Chief Minister M.K. Stalin so afraid of the Opposition parties?”

He said the Legislative Assembly is a forum to plan, discuss, and debate people-centric issues. “It is not the stage of the DMK’s public meeting. I urge the State government to ensure that the entire proceedings of the Assembly, including the issues raised by the Opposition parties, are telecast live.”
