Controversial Settipalli land issue in Andhra to be solved by Sankranti
Collector S. Venkateswar on Monday (December 30) said the contentious issue involving Settipalli land on the city outskirts will be solved by the upcoming Sankranti.
Speaking at the ‘Revenue Sadassu’ held at the village, he said the proceedings pertaining to four layouts will be handed over to the beneficiaries by January 5 and two more layouts by Sankranti, solving 85% of the issue. Tirupati MLA Arani Srinivasulu and MCT Commissioner N. Mourya were present.
The Settipalli land parcels have been mired in controversy for over six decades owing to registrations done multiple times in the past. Last week, CMO Secretary P.S. Pradyumna, who had served as the district’s Collector in the past, laid emphasis on clearing the issue at the earliest, while participating in a Revenue Sadassu in Srikalahasti.
Revenue and Municipal officials, in the presence of the respective ministers and the District Collector, will sit in multiple sessions to thrash out a solution. “Those who are in enjoyment [possession] of the land would be allotted 1.5 cents,” Mr. Venkateswar said, though declining to offer any respite to those residing in objectionable Poramboke land.
MLA Srinivasulu said Minister for Education Nara Lokesh had announced to create an IT Hub on 147 acres in Settipalli, indicating its growth potential in future.
