City Resident who Spent Decades Working for BOE, including 18 Years at JES, Margaret Yeater, Passes


Margaret Covino Yeater, 80, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. She was born on June 12, 1944 in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Samuel J. and Margaret A. Diblasi Covino. Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, John L. Yeater.


 


In addition to her husband, Margaret is also survived by her children, John L. Yeater Jr. and his wife Eve of Georgia, and Wendy Yeater Tuck and her husband Jay of North Carolina, grandchildren, Jackson and Jordan Yeater, brother, Samuel Covino of Connecticut, and sister, Rose Marie Neilson of Connecticut.


 


Margaret was a faithful member of the All Saints Catholic Church in Bridgeport and a graduate from the Mission Church High School. She served for 30 years in the Harrison County Board of Education, where she also served as a cook at Johnson Elementary School for 18 years. Margaret enjoyed reading, cooking, and shopping. She was service minded, as she regularly volunteered at Shephard’s Corner in Bridgeport.


 


The family would like to extend a special thank you to the United Hospital Center Nurses and Doctors for their exemplary care and treatment, especially Dr. Nelson for his care throughout the years.


 


Memorial contributions may be made in Margaret’s memory to the Medbrook Children’s Charity, 120 Medical Park Drive, Suite 300, Bridgeport, WV 26330.


 


Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport. In accordance with Margaret’s wishes, cremation services will occur. A memorial mass will be held in Margaret’s memory at a later date at the All Saints Catholic Church, 317 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV 26330.
