Bridgeport among Multiple Emergency Service Crews Responding to Structure Fire in Harrison County

The Bridgeport Fire Department was among multiple first responders on the scene of a Harrison County structure fire Wednesday, Deputy Chief Greg Pigg said.

Pigg said a crew was sent from the Bridgeport substation on Jerry Dove Drive to a blaze in the Enterprise community of Harrison County. The call came into the Harrison County 911 center at 4:35 p.m.

“Our crews were there for a little more than three hours assisting other agencies that responded,” said Pigg. “We were called out again later that night when it rekindled, but that was handled quickly.”

Pigg confirmed through the Shinnston Fire Department that no one was injured in the fire that was to a residential unit. Crews arrived to see the structure fully involved.

“To the best of my knowledge, the structure was a total loss,” said Pigg.

Bridgeport responded as part of a mutual aid agreement it has with multiple other fire agencies in Harrison County. Many of those groups were on the scene of this blaze. Units that responded included the Shinnston Fire Department, the Lumberport Fire Department, the Spelter Fire Department, Worthington Fire Department, Monongah Fire Department, and the Valley Fire Department.

There were other first responders on the scene as well. The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and the Harrison County Emergency Squad assisted.
