BMW recalls 4,233 cars in the Netherlands over fire risk

BMW is recalling 4,233 cars in the Netherlands due to a potential fire hazard affecting the 5-series and 7-series models. The recall is part of a larger global action impacting hundreds of thousands of vehicles.

The automaker said it is contacting owners of the affected vehicles to fix the problem, which is linked to the air conditioning system. “The interior filter of the air conditioning is regularly replaced as part of periodic maintenance,” a BMW spokesperson said. “Damaged cables can cause both air conditioning malfunctions and short circuits.” These issues could create a fire risk while driving.

BMW reported that worldwide, the recall affects cars manufactured between June 9, 2022, and December 5, 2025. The company described the action as a precaution and noted that no incidents have been reported.

Earlier this year, BMW also recalled hundreds of thousands of vehicles over fire concerns. That previous recall involved 5,500 cars in the Netherlands, covering models produced between July 2020 and July 2022.
