BMS Student-Athletes Recognized by Council
At the Wed,, Jan. 28 Bridgeport City Council meeting, the city’s governing body recognized Bridgeport Middle School student athletes for recent team accomplishments.
BMS girls’ soccer team members came forward to be congratulated for winning the 2025 Mid-Mountain 10 Conference championship by defeating Elkins Middle School 4-0 and finishing the season with a 15-0 record.
“We had a really good season and we were very dominant in the games we played. Very, very few were close,” said Coach Jack Boot.”We just have an outstanding group of players. Those who have been on the team for three years haven’t lost a game since their 6th grade year as we had two undefeated seasons. I’m very proud of how they have played.”

All student athletes were provided a pin with city seal by Interim City Manager Joe Shuttleworth.
The BMS volleyball team had also been invited, but due to training commitments, was unable to attend.
“They started camps and are busy practicing, so we hope to bring them back to recognize them, but we’re equally as proud of these student athletes and their accomplishments,” said Mayor Robert Matheny.
