Arkansas wants man pardoned by Trump to still serve prison time

A former owner of several Arkansas nursing homes who was pardoned by President Trump last month will reportedly still have to serve prison time on state charges.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A former owner of several Arkansas nursing homes who was recently pardoned by President Trump last month will still have to serve prison time on state charges.
Joseph Schwartz received clemency last month for a 3-year federal prison conviction.
In April, Schwartz pleaded guilty to running a $38 million dollar scheme by collecting taxes from his nursing home employees without paying the IRS.
A month later, he pleaded guilty to state charges, which were placed on hold due to the federal punishment.
However, now that he has been pardoned, Attorney General Tim Griffin filed a motion ordering Schwartz to serve at least 31 days in an Arkansas prison.
The new order gives Schwartz seven days to report to the Ouachita River unit in Malvern to serve his time.
Additionally, he also owes more than a million dollars in restitution.
