Arkansas baseball heads to Arlington
Hogs face Kansas State, TCU, and Michigan this weekend in the Amegy Bank College Baseball series in Arlington, Texas.
ARLINGTON, Texas — The 5th ranked Hogs baseball team is back on the diamond this weekend after their four-game series with Washington State last week where they swept through the Cougars. They now travel south to Arlington, Texas, for some big-time match ups with power four opponents.
Starting with Kansas State on Friday evening at 7 p.m., the Wildcats come into this one struggling only winning one game so far this season out of five, with two of those losses coming from Coastal Carolina last week, the other losses to Washington and #6 North Carolina. Their one win came against Saint Josephs.
For the Hogs, Gabe Gaeckle will get his second start of the year, the first in the 3-2 win in extra innings in their first game against Washington State.
On Saturday, the Hogs will have their first ranked match up of the year as they face #22 TCU at 6 p.m.
The Horned Frogs are off to a similar start as Arkansas, winning their first four games, the first of which went to extra innings, all four coming against San Diego State on the road.
TCU will be starting their RHP Tommy LaPour, who is 1-0 on the year and in six innings allowed six hits, no runs with five strike outs. He will be going toe to toe with Arkansas’ LHP Zach Root who is also 1-0 on the year, allowing two hits, one run with eight strikeouts in his five innings pitched so far this year.
For finale on Sunday the Razorbacks will take on the Michigan Wolverines for an early 11 a.m. match up.
Michigan has an impressive resume already this year with a win against #2 Virginia 5-4 in 11 innings last week in the Puerto Rico Challenge. They went undefeated in the tournament and stand at 4-0 so far in the season. Michigan has not named their starting pitcher for this one, however the Hogs will be going with the righty Gage Wood. In five innings pitched, Wood has allowed two runs on two hits with seven strikeouts.
All three games will be streaming on FloCollege at Globe Life Field in Arlington.
